Celebrating National Recycling Week

Recycling Week Feature

This week, Kimberly-Clark is proud to mark National Recycling Week. Led by Planet Ark, the  annual initiative encourages Australian businesses, communities and individuals to reflect and re-adjust their recycling habits.

At KCANZ, waste and recycling is one of the five priority areas in our Sustainability 2020 strategy, which drives our commitment to a zero-waste mindset and ensures we are constantly looking at innovative ways to improve and reduce the packaging of our products in order to lessen our impact on the environment.

In 2017, we successfully recycled 14.6 tonnes (3.6 million pieces) of our plastic packaging across ANZ. Our founding partnership with the REDcycle Recycling Program, enables consumers to return their soft plastic packaging at drop-off points in key locations like supermarkets. Flexible plastic packaging, which was previously sent to landfill and to date cannot be included at home for kerbside collection and recycling, is processed and sent to local Australian manufacturer and program partner Replas, where it is converted into new products such as outdoor park benches and playground equipment.

As a business, we recognise we have an important role to play in reducing our environmental footprint and educating our consumers about the correct disposable methods for our products and are committed to continuing to do our part in closing the loop.
